Sara Weller appointed new Chair of MaPS
Earlier today it was announced that Sir Hector Sants would be succeeded by Sara Weller CBE as Chair of the Money and Pensions Service.
Sir Hector, who has been Chair of MaPS since it was first established in 2018, said, “I warmly welcome the appointment of Sara as my successor. In her current role, as a non-executive, she has already made a significant contribution to the work of MaPS.”
Sara, who has been a Non Executive Director of MaPS since September 2022, brings with her an extensive background in non-executive roles across the public and private sectors. She has wide-ranging experience in customer focused operations, including the support and provision of the most vulnerable, as well as experience of structural and cultural transformation. Sara said, “I am delighted to become the second Chair of the Money and Pensions Service, with great thanks to Sir Hector Sants for his stewardship of MaPS in its early years.
“Especially in these times, MaPS has a key role to play, making impartial money guidance accessible to all. I look forward to working closely with our many partners, to help people right across the country feel more able to manage their money.”
An overview of the progress made by MaPS and by the wider sector championing the importance of financial wellbeing is given in this recent speech by Sir Hector.
