New President at insolvency and restructuring trade body R3

Edwin Coe LLP Partner Christina Fitzgerald has been appointed President of insolvency and restructuring trade body R3.

As President, Christina will work with the R3 senior management team to help shape R3’s direction, as well as supporting its day-to-day operations.

Her main areas of focus for her year in office will be supporting the delivery of R3’s Strategic Plan, increasing its engagement with other parts of the profession and the different sectors that interact with its members, and building on R3’s existing diversity and inclusion work to promote careers in the profession to individuals from different educational and personal backgrounds.

Christina Fitzgerald said: “This is a critical time for insolvency and restructuring – and for R3. The ongoing economic challenges the UK faces, coupled with the Government’s review of our regulatory framework means the profession will be under a bright spotlight in the coming weeks and months.

“The work we carry out to help financially distressed business and individuals, and the work R3 carries out to support and promote the profession will be increasingly important. I want to use my presidency to ensure that as many people as possible, from the media to parliamentarians to policymakers, understand just how valuable this work is to the wider economy.”

She continued: “I also want to use my year in office to ensure that R3’s engagement with our members in the nations and regions across the UK remains as strong as possible and to build on the work R3 has done with the Insolvency Service on diversity and inclusion.

“This is a critical issue for the profession, and the work we do now to break down barriers to entry and progression will ensure that the talent pool is as broad and deep as it can be.”
