Cabot General Counsel Sarah Whiteley elected new Board member at CSA AGM

At the recent AGM of the Credit Services Association – the trade association for the debt collection and debt purchase industry – Sarah Whiteley, Group General Counsel & Company Secretary at Cabot Credit Management, was elected as a new board director.

Sarah leads the legal, governance and company secretary functions for Cabot Credit Management across the UK and Europe and is a trusted advisor to C-Suite colleagues, stakeholders, the Cabot Holdco and subsidiary Boards and statutory committees in the UK and Europe.

Sarah commented on her recent appointment to the CSA Board: “I am delighted to have been nominated and would like to thank the CSA members for their support.  I am looking forward to supporting and presenting the common voice of our industry and supporting the growth and leverage of the CSA to represent each member for the common good.”

Two other current CSA Board members were also re-elected to Board.

Frank Horvath is Managing Director at Link Financial Outsourcing and has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services, including 27 years as a lender, debt seller and debt placer. His early career was spent at Midland Bank and HSBC, before moving onto Barclaycard as Director of Collections (UK). His current role is Managing Director of Link Financial Outsourcing.

Joanne Cowens is Head of Conduct & Risk at NCO Europe, and has similarly worked in the financial services industry for more than 30 years having a breadth of knowledge in many aspects of personal, commercial and corporate regulation. She is a former executive within the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Chris Leslie, CSA CEO welcomed the members to the Board at the AGM on 24 February, and he also thanked former CSA Board director, Ian Rea, for his services prior to stepping down: “We would like to thank Ian for all his hard work and time that he has devoted to the Association during his tenure as director,” he continues.

“As the trade association for the collections and debt purchase sector we elect practitioners to Board Director roles each year, so it is welcome news that Sarah is able to join Frank, Joanne and our other existing Board members. Our Board has a strong breadth of skills, represents the full range of member firms, and will equip the CSA to champion the issues facing our member firms for the future.”

At the AGM, the terms of office for current Chair Tom Chandos and Vice Chair Nick Cherry were also extended for a further year until the 2023 AGM.
