A local firm of accountants is celebrating after one of the youngest members of its growing team was named as a finalist in the 2018 Staffordshire Chambers’ Business Awards (SCBA).
Jenna Hands of Stafford-based Howards Chartered Certified Accountants is in the running for Young Employee/ Apprentice of the Year. The award will be presented to a young person under the age of 25 who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, advancement and contribution not only within their own role, but also within their employer’s business as a whole.
Twenty-two year old Jenna joined Howards in 2016 with experience in statutory audit but little exposure to other areas of accountancy. During the past couple of years she has exceeded all expectations, developing her skills base to become part Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)-qualified and building her own portfolio of businesses and organisations, many of whom are among the firm’s most prestigious clients.
Rebecca Nott, senior manager at Howards Certified Accountants and Jenna’s workplace mentor, said: “As an ACCA Gold Status Approved Employer we take our responsibility to train our staff very seriously and I can honestly say that Jenna is a model student. Keen to learn, she is determined to achieve her potential so as to provide the very best service to her clients and in her spare time fulfils the role of treasurer at the local branch of a national charity.
“Given the overwhelming number and standard of entries this year we’re very proud that Jenna has been shortlisted for the SCBA Young Employee/ Apprentice of the Year Award.”
Several of Howards’ clients have been shortlisted for Staffordshire Chambers’ Business Awards, while the firm was commended for its entry in the Professional Services of the Year category. All winners will be announced at a gala evening at the Staffordshire County Showground on July 5.
Howards Certified Accountants supports companies and organisations of all sizes and in all sectors across Staffordshire, providing business services (auditing, outsourcing, payroll and auto enrolment), and advice on taxation, corporate finance and strategic planning to improve profits and promote growth.
