FSB: Stable jobs market masks growing importance of self-employed PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 25 January 2018
Official figures published today show that Scottish unemployment fell slightly between September and November of last year. However, the employment rate also decreased slightly over the same period.

Andy Willox, FSB’s Scottish policy convenor, said: “Reassuringly these figures show that Scotland’s jobs market is stable despite the country’s mediocre economic growth rate.

“With more than 300,000 Scots now self-employed, policymakers must shift their approach to back those who work for themselves. In our view, that means ensuring that our social security and childcare systems work for those that have set up on their own.”
