Money on your mind? The Public Sector is one of the top industries for a pay rise right now PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 04 July 2017
Despite there being a great amount of uncertainty following the general election in June, it’s positive news for workers in the Public Sector, as average salaries rose by 6% in June, when compared with data from June 2016.  This is according to the latest statistics from the UK’s leading independent job board,   CV-Library  .

The data found that the Public Sector was one of the top industries for a pay rise in June, when comparing year-on-year data, with the top 10 sectors for salary growth including:

Hospitality – 15.2%
Design – 9.1%
Agriculture – 6.9%
Public Sector – 6%
Social Care – 4.7%
Education – 4.7%
Automotive – 3.8%
Charity – 3.1%
Accounting – 2.3%
Property Services – 2.3%

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library comments on the findings: “While the recent election may have left many professionals feeling uncertain about the future, it’s clear that organisations in the Public Sector are still striving to offer competitive pay packages to job hunters in the sector and it’s positive to see that salaries are continuing to rise. The public sector has shown promising growth in June, so now could be a great time to look for roles in the industry.”

Furthermore, the findings revealed that organisations in the Public Sector are remaining optimistic about their hiring plans, as job vacancies increased by an impressive 8.8% year-on-year. This indicates that there is a wealth of opportunities in the industry for those that are looking for work right now.

Biggins concludes: “It’s great to see that job vacancies were also on the rise last month, meaning there are plenty of opportunities out there for job hunters in the industry. It’s clear that the sector’s businesses are showing no signs of slowing down in the face of uncertainty, and professionals should embrace this when searching for their next role.”
