Debt collection - a growing business PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 03 July 2017
A nationally-recognised debt collection agency based in South Wales is expanding its field of operation by taking over a rival business.

Thornbury Collections based just outside Cardiff was shortlisted for the â?~Best Debt Collection Company of the Yearâ?T last year, and finished runners up.

They have a client base of hundreds of firms across Wales, the UK and internationally.

Now they have taken over the John Lewis Agency Ltd in Llandeilo in West Wales.

Steve White,Thornburyâ?Ts Managing Director, commented: "We are absolutely delighted and can assure John Lewis customers of continuing excellent service.

"his is a move that consolidates our business across the whole of Wales and means that we can continue to grow and expand."

Formed in 2002 Thornbury prides itself on its ability to mediate and resolve disputed debts. Said Steve White: â?oThere are not many companies that can boast testimonials on their website from the people and companies from whom they have collected the debts.

"About 60% of our clients were in fact businesses that we were chasing and they were so impressed by the manner of our service that they have engaged us to help them.

"Its that sensitive approach to our work that has earned us a national reputation and a growing international workload.

Before setting up Thornbury Steve served in the Royal Navy and for 14 years in the Police Service. John Lewis who runs the agency he is taking over is a retired naval Lt Commander. Steve joined Thornbury in 2007 and completed a Management Buy Out in 2012.

"Our joint naval background and training and my time with the police means that we are well versed in paying attention to detail and in understanding people. That, coupled with a strict ethos and ethics, gives us a real edge in our work."

Steve has been married for 30 years to his wife Diane and they have three sons, the oldest of which is autistic, so he is also Chairman of the Autism Directory â?" a charity that provides help and support to people living and working with autism.

Added Steve: "Cash flow is a real problem for many companies â?" large and small. But we also understand that there are two sides to every situation. We donâ?Tt take sides. We resolve situations. If money is owed then it gets collected. But it has to be done in the right way.

"Its because of that approach that persuaded a long-standing company like the John Lewis Agency that we were the right people to come in and take over the reins from them."
