Monday, 10 April 2017
George Banco has appointed Peter Behrens, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of peer-to-peer lending platform RateSetter, to its board as a non-executive director. George Banco is a personal finance provider that is shaking up the guarantor lending market.

Peter’s deep experience of the consumer finance market will help George Banco meet its plans for future growth. Peter co-founded RateSetter in 2010, and the platform has now facilitated more than £1.8bn in loans. RateSetter allows retail investors to lend directly to individuals and businesses across the UK.

Marc Howells, CEO at George Banco, commented: “Peter has been instrumental in RateSetter’s growth and knows the consumer finance market inside out. We’re delighted to bring his expertise and experience to George Banco, where he’ll play an important role in helping our business grow sustainably and deliver responsibly for our customers.”

Peter Behrens, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at RateSetter, commented: “George Banco is a strong and growing business and I am looking forward to helping the company realise its ambition of shaking up the market for guarantor lending in the UK and provide a great service for its customers. Guarantor loans are an important part of the financial inclusion agenda and provide an effective, simple way for people to rebuild and rehabilitate their credit history.”

George Banco is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
