Bank of England Q4 Credit figures: "Decreased SME lending is concerning for the economy" PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 13 January 2017
Adrian Sainsbury, Managing Director of Close Brothers Banking Division, comments on the Bank of England Lending Q4 Credit Conditions Survey: “It is concerning for the UK economy that demand for lending from SMEs has decreased for the second quarter in a row. Confidence to borrow is vital for the UK’s small businesses as they plan ahead to invest for the long-term, purchasing new inventory, training staff and hiring new employees. We strongly believe that with the right access to finance and the right types of finance, SMEs can continue to plan, invest and achieve their growth potential, despite uncertainty. As specialists, we understand the needs and the specific problems of small businesses and will continue to lend and provide both the finance and support needed to help SMEs flourish.”
