Shoosmiths hires leading finance litigation partner for London office PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 20 December 2016
National law firm Shoosmiths has appointed David Pacey as a finance litigation partner into the London office. David will lead the firm’s financial services litigation strategy nationally.

David joins Shoosmiths’ London office from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Having trained and qualified at CMS Cameron McKenna he went onto a senior in house role at a major clearing bank. Subsequently he headed finance litigation teams in London and nationally for well-known national firms.

He brings with him an in-depth insight into the FCA regulatory processes including approvals, authorisations, investigations, early interventions, settlements and regulatory proceedings before the RTC, RDC and the Tribunal. During the 3 years that David held a role in Enforcement Legal he was also a member of the Insolvency Expert Group.

David has worked on high profile banking and insolvency disputes and has been described by a GC as ‘a very focused, talented and knowledgeable banking lawyer’. Directory entries had commented on his ability to combine quality of advice with commercial sensitivity.

Waine Mannix, head of financial services at Shoosmiths, commented: ‘Our financial services strategy is to further develop our successful banking litigation capability both with lenders and other financial services companies. David’s expertise in FCA enforcement and advisory work combined with his strong relationships in this area will dovetail well with our existing capabilities, consolidating our national reputation as leading lawyers in the financial sector.’

David added: ‘Shoosmiths’ financial services practice has a great reputation and I look forward to further strengthening the team’s financial litigation proposition nationally and in the London market.’

David’s appointment follows Shoosmiths’ announcement earlier this month of its merger with Belfast based specialist debt recovery and insolvency firm McManus Kearney. Shoosmiths presence in Northern Ireland will ensure our award-winning commercial and financial services are the very best on offer.
