|One Advice Group partners with local school to promote financial education|
|Thursday, 24 November 2016|
As part of its commitment to being a responsible business, the One Advice Group (OAG) has run its latest session with Sacred Heart School in Wythenshawe to help young people in Greater Manchester learn more about good money management.
It's all part of its support for Numbers at Work, a programme initiated by Manchester Airports Group (MAG) and BW3, which makes learning maths fun in real life situations. Also involved are City in The Community CITC - Manchester City FC, Microsoft, Shell and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG)’s WOW Zone.
As part of the session, students take part in a unique board game called PayDay, which helps young people to learn about financial responsibility – from paying bills to managing debt and budgeting – in a fun and interactive way. The game was created collectively by OAG employees and encourages players to understand the consequences of their financial decisions and to proactively manage their money.
Over the last 12 months OAG has interacted with over 350 young people using the game and was therefore delighted to be invited to Sacred Heart to showcase the game with youngsters at the school.
Jodi Hamilton, Head of Marketing at OAG, commented; “Colleagues wanted to use the financial expertise and support they offer our customers every day to deliver financial education and fun maths sessions to local young people. At the same time colleagues develop their own personal skills like team working, communication and problem solving. It’s a win-win for all”.
