|Friday, 02 September 2016|
The Board of Directors of Falcon Private Bank has appointed Walter Berchtold as new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2016. Walter Berchtold, who has served the Board since March 2015, succeeds Eduardo Leemann, who will remain with the Bank as Senior Advisor.
Walter Berchtold (54) looks back on more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry. He was named Head Private Banking of Credit Suisse Group in 2004. In 2011 he gave up the operational responsibility and continued to serve as Chairman of the Private Banking division. From 2003 until 2012, Walter Berchtold was member of the Credit Suisse Group Executive Board. Since then he has been acting as an independent financial industry expert.
Murtadha M. al Hashmi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, commented: "Eduardo Leemann informed the Board beginning of 2015 that he wanted to retire from the operational management at the age of 60. He has characterised the Bank's entrepreneurial spirit and achieved great results. In the name of the Board I want to express my sincere thanks to him for his excellent work and for preparing a prosperous future for Falcon Private Bank. With his extensive international experience in private banking and the financial markets, Walter Berchtold was the ideal candidate to first join the Board and now succeed Eduardo Leemann as CEO of Falcon Private Bank".
"Being Member of the Board of Directors over the last 15 months, I got to know the Bank very well. I highly admire the Board's strategic commitment, the entrepreneurial spirit and professionalism on all levels. I am honoured by the Board's trust and looking forward to take up this exciting opportunity", concludes Walter Berchtold, designated CEO of Falcon Private Bank.
Eduardo Leemann (60) resigns from his CEO role on September 30, 2016, but will continue to serve the Bank as Senior Advisor. Over the last two decades, he has successfully led the Bank to become a well distinguished and profitable private banking boutique.
