Print and marketing specialist DMP, which runs the market leading online direct mail service Hello Market, has gone the extra mile to ensure its data is secure. 

Said md Tony Kemp: "Not only have we achieved ISO 27001, which demands that strict, effective data security measures and policies are in place and adhered to, we have chosen to go beyond what the standard requires to assure our clients' peace of mind by choosing to criminal record check our staff as well.

"We appreciate the demands of sectors which deal in highly sensitive information which is why we screen our staff. I have the utmost faith in each and every member of my team, but we are doing even more to prove it as we are in a market where security is paramount.

"We take data security incredibly seriously and this proves our commitment to keeping our customers' details safe. This is especially important to financial institutions which are dealing with sensitive data such as bank statements, pensions and wealth management."

DMP deals with customers across a variety of sectors including financial institutions, charities and small to medium sized businesses. All financial institutions, especially those governed by the FSA, are increasingly moving their work to suppliers who have been ISO 27001 certified.

DMP's head of IT and information security, Richard Knaggs, explained: "All companies are legally obliged to ensure that the confidential data they hold is safe and the best way of ensuring that is to get ISO 27001 certification and to only send data to companies who also have ISO 27001."

ISO 27001 certification proves to clients and suppliers that stringent checks, procedures, controls, training, risk assessments and audits are in place and that these systems are continually monitored and improved.

Richard, who has spent much of the past nine months working on the certification with the help of an external consultant, added: "DMP has always had strong controls and procedures in place so the process of gaining ISO 27001 certification has largely been about proving that we have these controls by documenting our procedures, checks and so on. This, though, has been a considerable task as we have to prove to external auditors that we comply with each specific requirement of the ISO 27001:2013 standard."

Said Tony: "In addition, by using our online direct mail platform, Hello Market, clients can reduce the number of pairs of hands data passes through during a campaign."

DMP has also achieved internationally recognised standards in quality and environmental practices - ISO9001 and ISO14001 - as well as being FSC certified.
