FSB backs Scottish Government action PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 10 August 2016
The Scottish Government has today announced a package of measures designed to bolster business confidence and boost the economy.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has outlined a new dedicated service to provide information and support to businesses affected by the EU referendum. The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) called for such a measure in the weeks following vote.

Andy Willox, the FSB’s Scottish policy convenor, said: “The current information gap presents a problem for firms trying to make medium-term business decisions. We support this move from the Scottish Government to combat this problem.” The Scottish Government has also announced a new round of infrastructure spending and a new business engagement forum.

Andy Willox said: “We need to squeeze every drop of value from this new spending – and that means ensuring that a fair share of these contracts, and associated sub-contracts, go to local firms.

On the new engagement forum, Andy added: “98 per cent of Scottish businesses are small. We look forward to making sure their interests are understood by political decision-makers during this important period.”
