Seven in 10 holidaying British women would not trust their partner or spouse to pack their holiday l PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 18 July 2016
Research, commissioned by The Money Shop, a leading high-street provider of consumer finance - including travel money and money transfer services – reveals that around seven in 10 women (68%) who are in a relationship and take at least one holiday a year would not trust their partner or spouse to pack their holiday luggage for them, yet 46% of holidaymakers leave packing until the day before travelling.

The survey, carried out by YouGov, also found that four out five male travellers (79%) would trust their partner or spouse to pack their luggage for them. Additionally, of those who do take trips, 46% of people buy their currency a week before travelling, with 76% shopping around for the best rates either at different places (39%) or a few preferred sellers (37%), as 62% said that the price/rate is the most important factor when buying currency.

Surprisingly, only 4% of vacationers buy their currency on the day of travel.

Caroline Walton, Chief Customer Insight Officer of The Money Shop, said: “With the summer holiday season well underway, our survey clearly shows that, while packing is often left to the last minute, the majority of people in Britain do shop around well in advance of their holidays for the best currency rates.

“We can’t help with people’s packing, but what many people don’t realise is that The Money Shop offers great rates on over 50 currencies– even now despite the market chaos.

“Until 30th September 2016, if you do come to one of our stores with a printed quote - dated the same day - that is cheaper elsewhere, we will give you a better one. We also offer 0% commission on all currencies.”

All customers who purchase £400+ worth of currency in-store in one transaction at The Money Shop, will receive a free underwater camera (whilst stocks last).

The Money Shop is also running a weekly social media competition on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram called #FXFridays. All you need to do is upload a photo from a recent holiday (UK or abroad), tagging The Money Shop, with the hashtag #FXFridays and if your photo is chosen, you could win £250 (prize money given away weekly). The competition is running until 30th September 2016. See our Website for full terms and conditions.
