May gross lending - comment from Jonathan Sealey, Hope Capital CEO PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 29 June 2016
Jonathan Sealey, Hope Capital CEO, says “It has been an interesting week to say the least, with the future looking somewhat uncertain, at least in the short term.  Although lending continues to improve on 2015 there has been an obvious quietening across the market in the two months leading up to the referendum, which is in all likelihood set to continue.

“It’s time now for everyone to settle down, accept our fate if you like, and get on with the day to day business. People will in general be sitting back for a while, but in the end we can’t sit on our hands and wait for ever to see what happens to the political landscape. Eventually we have to get on with things and in the same vein I believe that the market will pick itself up and people will start looking at their situation and moving forwards.

“Although the mainstream market has slowed in the last couple of months, we haven’t experienced the same kind of dip in our business. There are of course those that will always take advantage in uncertain times; whether that’s foreign investors entering the UK market while the pound is weak, or domestic investors with available cash I’m not sure, but I really don’t expect the market to come to a grinding halt.”
