|Tuesday, 14 June 2016|
WASHINGTON — David Dickinson, president of Banker’s Compliance Consulting, received the 2016 ABA Distinguished Service Award which recognizes leadership, initiative and accomplishment in banking regulatory compliance management. The award, established in 1995, was presented at the American Bankers Association’s 30th annual Regulatory Compliance Conference in San Diego.
The ABA Compliance Administrative Committee, composed of 14 leading bank executives in the compliance profession, solicits nominations and selects the honoree.
“David is recognized throughout the industry for his passion and commitment to the compliance community,” said John Topczewski, chairman of ABA’s Compliance Administrative Committee. “He goes above and beyond to educate his fellow compliance professionals on complex issues, and we are fortunate to have him as a friend, teacher and industry advocate.” Topczewski is also senior vice president and chief compliance officer of Johnson Bank in Wis.
“I’m incredibly honored and humbled by this recognition,” said Dickinson. “My goal has always been to serve compliance professionals by taking complicated regulations and turning them into plain English.”
Dickinson began his compliance career with the FDIC as an examiner and later became a loan officer for a community bank. In 1993, he established Banker’s Compliance Consulting. He has written numerous compliance articles for banking publications, including ABA Compliance Magazine, and maintains a blog where the compliance community can find information on current industry issues. Through Banker’s Compliance Consulting, Dickinson also offers a free forum each quarter for bankers to ask questions and receive feedback, as well as various compliance seminars and webinars. Dickinson is on the faculty of the Center for Financial Training and the American Bankers Association National Compliance Schools, and is a regular speaker at ABA’s Regulatory Compliance Conference.
Dickinson graduated from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with a bachelor of science in finance. Additionally, Dickinson enlisted in the Army in 1984 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves and the Nebraska National Guard until 1995, achieving the rank of captain.
