Figures from the ICAEW economic forecast simply demonstrate what we have all experienced this year PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 13 June 2016
Kevin Caley, Founder and Chairman of peer-to-peer business lender ThinCats comments on the ICAEW Economic forecast: “To say the outlook for UK business investment was negative, would be stating the obvious here. Figures from the ICAEW economic forecast simply demonstrate what we have all experienced this year - that despite wishful thinking by the government, businesses are reluctant to make investments at this time of uncertainty. UK GDP has slowed in Q1, low interest rates are here to stay, and political concerns are weighing heavily on investor confidence and it is disappointing that this looks set to stay for yet another quarter. SMEs in particular are bearing the full brunt of this lack of investment and need to shop around if they want to grow their business. It’s because the peer-to-peer sector can fill this funding gap, that has already spurred the sector on to growth and we see it playing an even more significant part of the funding landscape in future.”
