Shoosmiths continues debt recovery expansion with strategic partner hires PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 25 May 2016
National law firm Shoosmiths is driving forward an ambitious growth plan for its recoveries services group (RSG) with the appointment of two new partners and several other key staff.

Karen Savage and Paula Swain join the RSG team as part of the firm's goal to become the leading recoveries litigation service in the UK.

The two new partners, who joined Shoosmiths at the end of May, will be responsible for setting up and growing a RSG practice out of the firm's Southampton office. Karen will manage the practice and will drive the business to business dispute resolution and debt recovery services, working with Paula who will have responsibility for developing new and existing financial services, insurance and corporate client relationships and identifying opportunities for cross practice working.

Karen joins Shoosmiths from Lester Aldridge where she spent the last 24 years and set up and developed the firm's debt recovery service. As head of the firm's Litigation Group she has worked with many leading finance providers, credit insurers and corporates. Karen has built an excellent reputation as an expert in recoveries services.

Paula, who has been ranked in Chambers & Partners since 2012 as a national leading individual in consumer finance, also joins from Lester Aldridge. She is a trusted advisor to the banks and asset finance companies on a variety of FCA compliance issues, together with consumer credit, finance and commercial disputes. Paula's expertise includes handling a range of complex asset recovery and title disputes, breach of warranty and fraud claims.

Karen and Paula will be supported by a number of their former team, team leader Chris Moody, Andi Sharpe and Solicitors Stephen Eastley and Jade Souch, who joined the Southampton RSG team in March. Since March, RSG has also hired another three employees for the team which will support Karen and Paula.

Shoosmiths head of recoveries services, Waine Mannix, said: 'This is an exciting time for our recoveries services group as we look to expand our practice nationally. Karen has a proven track history as a successful business developer and combined with Paula's specialist expertise we are confident that the new team will help us realise our ambitions.'

The latest appointments follow the announcements that Stephen Allinson, formerly a consultant to Lester Aldridge, has joined the RSG team as a consultant.

Shoosmiths recoveries services group provides a complete range of debt recovery services utilising cutting edge technology and with specialists dealing with different debt types, all operating under a centralised management structure and within a national conduct risk and operating framework.

The RSG practice currently operates from offices in Northampton, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Reading where it has established a strong reputation for client excellence in debt recovery.

The Legal 500 directory has ranked Shoosmiths in the top tier for recoveries services across the East and West Midlands, London, Manchester and the South East for many years. Shoosmiths was named 'UK Law Firm of the Year' at Legal Week's British Legal Awards 2015.
