|FSB: Unrelenting focus on economy required from MSPs|
|Friday, 06 May 2016|
The SNP has won 63 of 129 Scottish Parliament seats and will form the next Scottish Government.
Andy Willox, the Federation of Small Businesses’ (FSB) Scottish Policy Convenor, said: “This third successive victory for the SNP underlines the party’s dominance in the Scottish political marketplace. I congratulate them on their overwhelming success.
“The opposition parties must be applauded too. Like a vibrant local economy, Scotland needs effective competition, and in politics that only comes when you have dedicated people willing to give up their own time for a cause that they believe in.”
Andy added: “Ahead of the election, Nicola Sturgeon described FSB as a strong and challenging ally in efforts to deliver a Scottish economy that works for the entire country.
“FSB’s strength comes from the importance of small firms to the country. We will judge this administration’s policies exclusively on whether they’ll help or hinder Scotland’s 300,000 small firms.
“During the next parliamentary term, we must see an unrelenting focus on Scotland’s economy from backbenchers and Ministers alike. With new tax powers, reforms of business rates and a review the enterprise network on the cards, there’s a lot to get on with – and strengthening Scotland’s local economies must be the paramount consideration throughout.”
