2iCF - April Meeting PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 28 April 2016
The 2iCF (International IT & Technology Credit Forum) met at Google’s EMEA HQ in Dublin in April. Firstly a big thank you to Google for being such good hosts. What an interesting venue, if you have never been then you must get an invite in the future.  Not only did we meet the Googlers we also met the Nooglers (new Googlers)

This is the first 2iCF meeting for 2016 and we had a great turnout. Averaging 43 attendees across the two days including 4 prospective members.

The first day started with a welcome from Andre Toaldo, Google Global Credit Manager, then the get to know each other session which is always good fun and increases the noise level in the room. Luckily my “singing bowl” was able to bring everybody to order.

The sessions for Day One were:
· Global Economic Overview - Ana Boata, Economist for Europe, Euler Hermes Economic Research Department
· Industry Overview - What is happening in the Technology Sector
Alan Norman, MD, IT-Europa
· How to get a business proposal approved - What are senior management really looking for?
Simon Marshall, Director, Co-Pilot
· Break-out session ONE included:
o Pressure on Payment terms
o How to say 'No' to Sales when they request a higher Credit Limit?
Chaired by: Experian & Company Watch
o Comprehensive dispute resolution & legal advice
Chaired by: DLA Piper & Moreton Smith
· Trading Hot Spots
Antoun Massaad, CEO, Cedar Rose Ltd
· Internationalisation & Best Practice
Frank Moroney, Strategic Initiatives Consultant, IICM

We then held a “Group Networking Dinner” at the Osteria Lucio Restaurant for the “Big Lucio” sharing menu.

Day Two:
· Credit as Customer Service
John Swan, Head of Credit, Hachette (ex European CM at Dell)
· Break-out session ONE included:
o Credit Limits- do we need them? What is the most effective way to calculate them?
o Supply Chain Risk Assessment
o Effective mitigation strategy? What is the most effective tool & how to mitigate without stopping the business
o Dispute Management – Best Practice
· The DNA of an International Credit Director
John Kelly, Credit Director, MAICD, Doosan (Ex Cisco, Philips & Novell)
· A vision of 2020
Bill Dunlop, Director, Tower Associates International

Overall some very good sessions with lots of interaction. I hope that we achieved our goal of everybody who attends taking away something new.

Thanks to everybody who attended and to our Corporate Partners for their support.

The next meeting is:
20/21 June – London
