CSA voices support to Money Advice Scotland as consultation closes on new Plan PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 03 March 2016

The Credit Services Association (CSA), the representative body of the UK debt collections and debt purchase industry, has voiced its support for Money Advice Scotland in the charity’s response to the consultation on the Money Advice Service Business Plan 2016/17.

With the final plan due for publication in March, Yvonne MacDermid OBE, Chief Executive of Money Advice Scotland, welcomed the proposals and the areas of priority including the young and people in later life: “We are pleased to be piloting the ‘common evaluation toolkit’, which will prove invaluable to organisations in measuring the effectiveness of financial capability interventions,” she said.

“We would also ask that the Money Advice Service re-visits its budget allocation. When only 17% of over-indebted people are receiving the advice they need, it is important that money advice services across the UK are adequately supported”.

Leigh Berkley, President of the CSA, echoed these sentiments: “Whatever the final outcome of the Plan, we look forward to working closely with Yvonne and her team in helping more customers to receive the help they need to get out of debt.”
