The Money Shop looks to “spearhead” the future of high-street consumer finance PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 15 February 2016

The Money Shop, a leading provider of consumer finance - both online and on the high-street - has completely transformed its store in Derby as it seeks to trial new services and reinforce the customer-centred services that it provides.

Dollar UK has invested £120,000 in this project, and the store officially re-opens today (15th February) on The Spot, in Derby.

The store has been completely redesigned in response to the feedback customers had given to staff. Improvements include a brand new customer services area where customers can discuss their finances in comfort and confidence with The Money Shop’s friendly staff, a separate counter area for general requests, including a specific counter area for currency and money-transfers - whilst offering more privacy for customers - and an ATM machine providing free cash withdrawals. There will also be a children’s play area and a new-look jewellery display.

Stuart Howard, CEO of The Money Shop and Dollar UK, said: “This not only symbolises the future of The Money Shop and the services we provide, but also the future of high-street consumer finance. At this Derby store, we will be trialling new products and services, and it marks the first of many future roll-outs across the UK.

“Our customers told us what they would like to see changed, and we’ve delivered on that. This complete transformation is further evidence of our investment in significant changes that put customers at the forefront of everything we do, and we look forward to finding out what they think of the new look.”

This new concept store in Derby is one of a number of improvements being implemented across Dollar UK’s business. The changes are intended to ensure customers continue to receive the highest quality service in a newly designed, relaxed environment with all their needs – including loans, cheque cashing, pre-paid credit card, money transfer and foreign exchange services - accommodated under one-roof.

To accompany the new store “concept” and branding, themoneyshop.com will also be undergoing a complete refresh.

Massimiliano Alvisini, Regional Vice President, Northern Europe and Iberia at Western Union, said: “We are delighted that The Money Shop’s new Derby concept store is opening with a layout designed to ensure a smoother service for our customers to send and receive money transfers in a convenient and private setting and with shorter in-store waiting times. This customer-centric approach is a key priority for Western Union and we congratulate The Money Shop on its efforts to create a more comfortable environment for our shared customers.”

Jean Mountain, President of East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire), said “It’s fantastic to see The Money Shop opening up a new flagship store in the heart of Derby. Financial services remains an important sector of the business community here in the East Midlands and the opening of this new store will make The Money Shop’s full range of products and services even more accessible to local consumers.

“The Money Shop has been a valued member and patron of the Chamber for a number of years and on behalf of the Chamber, I would like to wish it the very best of luck for this next exciting phase of its journey.”
