National law firm Shoosmiths has appointed Miriam Scott as a consultant in Shoosmiths’ Recoveries Services Group.

Miriam brings a wealth of experience having spent 30 years in-house and in the field of outsourced litigation fields. Miriam joins Shoosmiths from Arrow Global, one of the UK's largest providers of debt purchase and receivables management, where she was responsible for litigation activity conducted by the group.

Miriam previously led the litigation function at Robinson Way, a subsidiary of the Hoist Finance AB for 10 years, where she managed the in-house litigation team and external lawyers, maximising litigation performance in bought debt and client collections.

At Shoosmiths, Miriam will advise a number of lenders and debt purchasers on a wide range of strategic recoveries options within a fully compliant regulatory environment.

Miriam said: ‘I am delighted to be joining Shoosmiths, a leading national law firm widely considered to be one of the leaders in the recoveries field. The firm is well known for its exceptional client service and delivery and I feel Shoosmiths will be an excellent fit for me.’

Jim Taylor said: ‘Miriam has an excellent reputation in the market and with more than 30 years’ experience her expertise will serve to bolster our superb team. We welcome Miriam to Shoosmiths’ recoveries services group where we are sure she will make a terrific contribution.’

Miriam is an active member of the Civil Court Users Association where she was vice chair of the Northern region from 2005-2012 and is also a member of the Legal and Technical Committee.

Miriam is also co-chair of the North West discussion forum, which works to improve working relationships between creditors and advisers. She also holds regulatory appointments, including Consumer Credit Licensing Appeal tribunal member (1998 – 2014) and First Tier tribunal member (1998 - to date).

The Legal 500 directory has ranked Shoosmiths in the top tier for Recoveries Services across the East and West Midlands, London, Manchester and the South East.

Shoosmiths has recently been named ‘UK Law Firm of the Year’ at Legal Week’s British Legal Awards 2015.
