Northampton courier aims to deliver further expansion with funding from Aldermore PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 08 December 2015

Northampton based Route 1 Express Couriers Limited, a family-run courier service, has agreed a £250,000 funding facility with Aldermore to allow the business to continue its expansion.

Route 1 Express Couriers provides same-day, overnight and pre-scheduled delivery services across the UK and Europe for clients across industries including banking, electronics, telecommunications, marketing, advertising, print, legal and pharmaceuticals.

The company was founded in 2012 to provide courier services to Mainstream Direct Ltd, the family’s sister company specialising in direct mail production. Having built up its reputation through its support for Mainstream Direct, Route 1 Express Couriers was able to become a separate company serving a wider range of businesses.

The management team consists of husband and wife Lee and Jade Haines with other family members involved as directors and shareholders, including Lee’s father Richard who is the managing director of Mainstream Direct.

Jade Haines, Director and Founder at Route 1 Express Couriers, said: “Route 1 has only been trading for just over three years and when we launched the business we couldn’t have dreamed that it would grow so quickly.

“We’d seen the help that Aldermore had provided to Mainstream Direct so they were a natural choice for us when we decided to access external funding. The facility will allow us to continue to sustain our growth as we look to take on more client orders and grow the business further.”

Andy Geagen, Regional Sales Manager, Invoice Finance at Aldermore, said: “It was a relatively easy decision for us to provide finance to Route 1. Last year we funded to Mainstream Direct, which is run by Lee’s father Richard with whom we have developed a strong working relationship. This meant we already knew the Haines family well which was a key factor in bringing Route 1’s business to the Bank.

“We’ve enjoyed watching Mainstream Direct’s progress since we first provided funding to them and are hoping to see Route 1 enjoy similar success.”
