|Brightstar straight in with Investors in People bronze award|
|Thursday, 29 October 2015|
Brightstar has just achieved its Investors in People accreditation achieving bronze level after the first assessment. Only 16% of UK employers are accredited with Investors in People, and only 7% of those ever manages to achieve the bronze standard.
Investors in People sets the standard for better people management and is the sign of a great employer, an outperforming place to work and a clear commitment to sustainability. Investors in People helps companies to celebrate success, embed best practice and benchmark performance.
In order to become accredited, an organisation needs to meet 39 evidence requirements which include leadership, management, training and development of staff. Investors in People (IIP) looks at how aligned an organisation’s staff are to the company’s objectives; the organisation has to go through an online assessment and undergo an assessment with an IIP assessor who examines not only the company’s practices but also both observes and interviews staff.
To achieve a bronze award a company needs to have met an additional 26 evidence requirements. This covers areas such as leading, inspiring and empowering people; managing performance and structuring work; recognising and rewarding high performance; and delivering continuous improvement.
Clare Jupp, director of people development said, “We have been working towards our Investors in People accreditation for just three months and we were fast tracked to our first assessment. To bypass the 'standard' level and achieve bronze level first time was a fantastic achievement. We have worked incredibly hard to implement our People Development strategy over the last three years, so using the Investors in People framework was the perfect way to measure our success and 'investment' and to ensure that Brightstar is the great and successful place to work that we want it to be.
“Our assessor stated that out of the 800 companies he has assessed, Brightstar was the best that he had seen.”
Indeed, Brightstar is delighted that the assessor will be returning on 23rd November for a two day visit to 'test' the organisation at gold level. To achieve this prestigious accolade, Brightstar will need to demonstrate competence and evidence against a further 93 standards. If this award is achieved, Essex-based Brightstar will join only 1.5% of businesses in the entire country which hold the gold standard for Investors in People. Only 11 businesses across Essex and Suffolk hold the Gold award so this will be an outstanding achievement.
The accreditation lasts for three years although the company will be assessed annually.
