Labour Party recognises the importance of backing small business, says FSB PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 28 September 2015

Commenting on a day of discussion of economic and business issues at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton, including the FSB small business question time event with new Shadow Business Secretary Angela Eagle, and Shadow Small Business Minister Bill Esterson, John Allan, National Chairman for the Federation of Small Businesses, said:

“Today Labour was clear about the need for a positive partnership with business. Getting that relationship right is essential if we are to deliver on a wide range of issues including: tackling the skills shortage, boosting productivity and driving innovation.

“We were pleased to hear Angela Eagle underline the importance of supporting small businesses, recognising the tremendous contribution they make to the UK economy and the issues they face, such as business rates and late payments.

“With the new shadow cabinet only recently appointed, it will take some time for the party to develop detailed policy proposals. We look forward to working with shadow ministers to advance policies which will back small business growth and success.”
