FSB reacts to small drop in Consumer Price Index PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 15 September 2015

Commenting on the Consumer Price Index in the year to September, which fell to 0.0% John Allan, National Chairman for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), said:

“Recent FSB research shows that small business confidence is cooling so our members will be encouraged by this continued period of steady low inflation. Rising real wages are helping to boost household disposable income. That increased spending power coupled with persistently low oil prices is benefitting many small firms.

“In its August report, the Bank of England predicted that inflation will remain muted in the near-term and has so far kept interest rates at 0.5%. The Bank’s Governor Mark Carney has indicated that once rates start to move, the rise will be gradual which will help to give small businesses time to adjust.”
