|CML News & Views - buy to let: not a saint, not a sinner|
|Thursday, 16 July 2015|
In the first of two new articles just published, Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) director general Paul Smee gives his reaction to some of the government’s recent announcements on housing, in the Budget and elsewhere. Choice of tenure is shaped by personal preferences as well as market conditions, he argues. Meanwhile, the price paid by both home-owners and tenants reflects the balance of supply and demand – with the real challenge continuing to be to address the persistent shortage of housing.
The second article reflects in more detail on the FCA’s recent review of mortgage advice and distribution. More than a year on from the mortgage market review, it’s a good time to take stock, and the CML wants to help identify good practice in delivering advice to consumers.
