CML launches search for 'rising stars'
Monday, 29 June 2015
Today, we are launching our search for the 'rising stars' of the
mortgage industry - with a focus this year on the brightest ideas to
help younger borrowers. Those who make the best submissions will get the
chance to present them to an audience of senior mortgage industry
professionals at our annual conference in November.
Following the success of last year's 'rising stars' challenge, entrants are being asked to address the question "If lenders want to help my generation, they should..."
But although the challenge is for ideas to help younger borrowers, there is no age limit for entrants. Nor is entry restricted to those from the lending industry; we will accept entries from people working alongside lenders, or from commentators, journalists and others outside the industry. More details of the challenge can be found in this CML News & Views article <http://www.cml.org.uk/news/cml-launches-search-for-mortgage-industry-rising-stars/> published today.
Entrants can submit up to three proposals by the deadline of 4 September. We will then carefully assess them before inviting the best to present their proposals to our annual conference in London on 10 November. There, they will be voted on by our judging panel and the wider conference audience.
Among the judges will be last year's 'rising star' winner, Michael Rhodes, of Leeds Building Society. Michael impressed the judges with his proposal for a 'Mortgage Builder' scheme, an incentivised long-term savings plan to overcome the problem of raising a deposit for first-time buyers.
Last year's entries set a high standard - but we hope it can be surpassed in 2015. So if you would like the chance to shine, please submit your entries by 4 September. More details can be found on our website <http://www.cml.org.uk/events/cml-rising-stars-2015/> or by contacting
