SMEs are growing at fastest rate since 2008: IGF Invoice Finance Comment PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 17 June 2015

Tracy Ewen, managing director of IGF Invoice Finance, comments on the news that SMEs are growing at fastest rate since 2008.

“It is positive to hear that SMEs are showing sustained growth at levels matching the pre-crisis era. SMEs play a vital role in ensuring the UK continues to grow. However, the research shows that there is more that can be done – survival rates can still be improved and for more established companies, we need to provide them with the support they need to overcome the £1m-£2m revenue hurdle to reach the £3m bracket.
“Funding growth and day-to-day operations is key to success for SMEs, and it’s important to look at all options for financing. When the lending criteria set out by banks cannot often be met by smaller businesses, the alternative finance industry can play a key role for SMEs with ambitions to expand.
“For other firms, day-to-day cashflow remains an issue and again, reviewing all available sources of funding is good practice for smaller firms.  When considering your options, explore the free advice  that is readily available from most alternative finance providers. As well as this, Accountants and FDs should be able to provide guidance on non-bank funding and select the right option for the individual business.”
