Enterprise Research Centre SME research - comment from challenger bank Hampshire Trust Bank PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 16 June 2015

Hampshire Trust Bank comments on the research by the Enterprise Research Centre that found UK SMEs have recovered from the economic downturn and are now growing at pre-recession levels.

Responding to news that UK SME growth is back to pre-recession levels, Mark Sismey-Durrant, chief executive officer of specialist challenger bank, Hampshire Trust Bank, said: “It is great news that Britain’s small and medium sized businesses are now back to growth – what is critical now, in our view, is that they and the banks shake off their recessionary mindsets and ensure the finance is there to grow, not just today but in the future.

“The downturn has led many businesses to consider alternative forms of finance – as can be seen from the huge uptake in asset based lending that is currently being reported. This secured lending means that both businesses and banks have the confidence that they are borrowing at appropriate levels and by working in partnership with their bank can plan for a secure, yet growing, future.

“We believe that this prudent approach to business  is here to stay and are proud to be working with business leaders around Britain to help them deliver job creation and economic growth.”
