Ascent announces joint venture with Money Advice Scotland PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 08 June 2015

Leading debt legal services firm, Ascent, has announced a joint initiative with Money Advice Scotland (MAS).

MAS is a national umbrella organisation which promotes the development of free, independent, impartial and confidential debt advice, financial capability and inclusion.
The charity recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and to coincide with that, it has launched a new strategy of being ‘the driving force towards financial wellbeing for the people of Scotland’.
Ascent, which is a subsidiary of the Irwin Mitchell Group, has agreed as part of the initiative with MAS to place a solicitor into their Glasgow office.
This is to assist MAS employees with information about the legal process and provide an opportunity for them to share best practice and their views on treating customers fairly.  Ascent has committed to providing training to advisers on Court hearings and processes for MAS throughout the year.  This collaborative approach is aimed at ensuring the right outcomes are achieved for customers on a consistent basis.
Myra Scott at Ascent spoke recently at MAS’s 26th annual conference and discussed the subject of dealing with vulnerable customers and why it is so important to treat customers fairly.
Commenting on the initiative, Myra said: “Money Advice Scotland is an important charity and it does a great deal of good work in the area of debt prevention and debt advice. Ascent supports MAS’s vision and is looking forward to developing its relationship with the charity in the future.”.
Yvonne MacDermid, Chief Executive of MAS said: “We are delighted to be working closely with Ascent, and this relationship is a win-win for all.”
