Hampshire Trust Bank further strengthens compliance team with experienced hire PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 26 May 2015

Hampshire Trust Bank, the specialist challenger bank, has announced the appointment of Ann Ðoàn as Director of Legal and Compliance.

Prior to joining, Ann worked as Director of Legal, Compliance and Risk for the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) group; an international group offering a range of financial solutions and which includes CAF Bank, the bank for charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Ann, who qualified as a solicitor over 16 years ago, had a successful career in private practice with Eversheds before holding senior legal roles for companies including Transact and British Energy (BE) Group plc.  At BE, she was a key member of the team that led the company’s complex restructuring.

Talking about why she decided to join Hampshire Trust Bank, Ann said: “I wanted a new challenge and it was too good an opportunity to miss. I have joined Hampshire Trust Bank near the start of its journey. I have the chance to have a real impact and help build a bank engineered for the future, that is able to meet all regulatory and compliance requirements, but which also delivers business performance.

“It’s a really exciting time to be in banking. The market is opening up and smaller challenger banks are now able to compete.

“In a small bank, reputation and relationships are all-important. Hampshire Trust Bank is built on the traditional values that have strong synergies with the spirit, and not just the letter, of regulation and with meaningful compliance. We have a great Executive team, people who are very experienced in their technical fields, and that is crucial in terms of appropriately managing our conduct risk.”

Mark Sismey-Durrant, Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are delighted Ann has joined us. She is extremely experienced and an important addition to our team.

“Banking regulation is constantly evolving. Ann has her finger on the pulse of all relevant regulatory and compliance developments. She is passionate about the bank and committed to our safe and sustained growth and long-term vision to be a high quality, traditional bank focused on personal service delivered by experts. She also understands the importance of achieving the right balance between commercial objectives and a well-run, compliant business.”
