Worldpay comment on Apple Watch PDF Print E-mail

With the imminent launch of the Apple Watch, James Frost, chief product and marketing officer, UK at Worldpay commented:

“Most of the discussion around wearable technologies to date has focused on health and fitness, but the integration of payment functionality is likely to take things to a whole new level in terms of application and consumer uptake. 2015 might be the year of mobile payments, but the Apple Watch is giving us a glimpse of what’s next.
 
“This launch is coming at a great time, with tapping to pay already becoming part of the day-to-day through contactless debit and credit cards. If convenience and simplicity represent the Holy Grail for payments then it’s difficult to argue against the Apple Watch as a payment device. After all, what could be easier than ‘pay by wrist.’
 
“It’s vital that businesses are quick on the uptake and deploy the right kit in store to support contactless payments. The convenience stores, chain restaurants and transport systems, all with high customer traffic and queues at peak times, is a clear candidate for early adoption, and businesses need to ensure they don’t miss out and keep customers engaged.”
