The Business Area
The Independent Credit Risk Control Unit has direct responsibility for the validation, oversight and governance of all of Retail's credit models as well as contributing to the wider issues of model use, other capital adequacy issues and strategic considerations. This includes both setting the governance and control framework and implementing it via independent reviews and running the relevant committees etc.
Credit models covered by ICRCU include Basel capital models, impairment, forecasting/stress testing, pricing/risk-reward, affordability, collections and recoveries and marketing models.
ICRCU sits within Capital Management, to provide the required independence from the model building areas (largely Decision Science). Both ICRCU and Decision Science report directly to the Retail Divisional Risk Officer. The Capital Management team's overall role is to ensure that regulatory and economic capital is managed effectively within the Retail Division, as well as ensuring that all credit models are demonstrably fit for purpose.

This role is within the Acquisition & Credit Policy team in Personal Loans Credit Risk who support the profitable growth of the business by designing and delivering credit strategies that maximise long-term value and keep new business quality within our risk appetite.

Overview
The primary purpose of the Senior Analyst is to lead projects or analysis of one or more credit risk disciplines in support of loan portfolios. The focus will be on the full range of Credit Risk, from application policies and strategies to impairment and forecasting. The right candidate will have the opportunity to deliver initiatives from the initial analytical stage right through to implementation, directly impacting the P&L.
Responsible for providing detailed portfolio analysis in order to develop and drive Credit Risk strategies for both Acquisition and Customer Management. Working to establish a closer working relationship with both Finance & Marketing in order to optimise losses and profitable business growth through effective data driven decision making.

The Business Area
The role of the Capital Management team is to ensure that regulatory and economic capital is managed effectively within the Retail Division. This is achieved by ensuring that: capital is allocated effectively; capital requirements inherent in the Retail Division's plan are understood (including in stressed economic conditions); the Retail Division meets its regulatory and legal obligations for external reporting and explanation of credit risk related information; credit models and Basel Internal Rating Systems used within Retail are subject to appropriate validation, oversight and governance.

Key Accountabilities
Champion the development of a world-class Retail Decision Science team.
Build and lead a team of Modelling and Analytical experts to ensure that Retail Decision Science builds excellent Retail Credit Risk models.
Develop excellent business stakeholder relationships.
Provide technical leadership and coaching to team.
Develop and implement best practices within all aspect of Decision Science Modelling and Analytics.
Help steer the business in the preparation of business cases and resource plans for individual model developments. Oversee project management of individual model development projects and ensure all models are builton track and on budget, as well as managing the activities of teams working on such developments, to ensure that high quality models are delivered on time that meet business requirements and can be implemented.
Overview
This role involves supporting the development and maintenance of predictive models and scorecards that are used by Credit Risk Management, Fraud Management and Collections organisations in order to manage portfolio risk exposure throughout the customer lifecycle, under appropriate guidance and direction.
To develop first class Retail Credit Risk models/scorecards and Analytical solutions.
To be an active member of a Modelling and Analytics team ensuring that Retail Decision Science builds excellent Retail Credit Risk models.
To communicate and work with business stakeholders to build appropriate plans and to deliver against these plans.
To support Analysts in the team, and support Decision Science Senior Managers in the development of wider initiatives across the team.
Where required, manage junior analysts, including the setting of clear objectives,and providing clear and objective feedback, including both areas where the analysts worked well, and where there is room for improvement. Deliver feedback in a positive and motivating way.
To be aware of and work to best practices within all aspect of Decision Science Modelling and Analytics.
