1st Credit secures ISO standard on vulnerability

Ethical debt purchaser 1st Credit has become the first in its field to be externally assessed to the requirements of the ISO Standard BS 18477:2010 – Requirements for identifying and responding to consumer vulnerability. The standard was developed by consumer organisations, charities and government bodies to encourage the use of fair, ethical and inclusive practices. 
Intrum Justitia completes acquisition of UK debt purchaser 1st Credit

European credit management services group Intrum Justitia has completed a deal to acquire UK debt purchaser 1st Credit from private equity firm Bridgepoint for an enterprise value of £130m.

BLT Group to Commence Interbit Blockchain Pilot

BTL GROUP LTD. (TSX Venture: BTL) (“BTL”) is pleased to announce that it is working with a group of leading energy companies, including Wien Energie GmbH, Austria’s largest regional energy company, on a blockchain pilot using BTL’s Interbit platform. As with previous projects that BTL has successfully completed in this space, the goal is to demonstrate how BTL’s technology can significantly drive down costs associated with energy trading.  This revenue generating pilot will run alongside the other work BTL is continuing to undertake in the energy and finance industries.
Research reveals blockchain to become mainstream in financial post trade market within next few year

Blockchain will become adopted in the financial post-trade area in three to five years, according to almost half (48%) of the membership base of the Post-Trade Distributed Ledger (PTDL) Group1. In addition, just over a quarter (29%) of members believe blockchain will become adopted in as little as the next one to two years, though 21% forecast it will take in excess of five years.

CSA appoints new President and confirms new Board

John Ricketts has succeeded Leigh Berkley as President of the Credit Services Association (CSA), the voice of the UK debt collection and debt purchase sectors. His appointment was confirmed at the CSA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Leicester on February 7th.  
Second-charge mortgage repossessions down almost 37% in 2016

New figures released today by the Finance & Leasing Association (FLA) show that the number of second charge mortgage repossessions was 144 in 2016, almost 37% lower than in 2015. In the final quarter of 2016, the number of repossessions was 39, up by 18% compared with the same quarter in 2015.

The total number and value of debt judgments in Northern Ireland fell to the lowest levels on record during 2016, according to figures released today by Registry Trust.
