KPMG predicts record year for personal insolvencies in 2009

2009 is likely to see personal insolvencies reach record levels, with more than 150,000 people entering into an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (‘IVA’), being declared bankrupt or entering into a Debt Relief Order which will be introduced in April, according to data analysed by professional services firm KPMG.

Faster Payments Service volumes reach new peak

Six months after go-live date nearly four million internet, phone and standing order payments processed in a single day. APACS, the UK payments association, has today (30 December 2008) provided an update on the new Faster Payments Service.  Introduced at the end of May this year, the new system processed 3,907,719 payments on its latest peak day, on 1 December 2008.

Over one million ''faster payments' made every day

On 27 May 2008, the payments industry introduced the first newpayments system for over 20 years - Faster Payments. This new service for phone, internet and standing order payments allows customers to make and receive internet and phone payments within a couple of hours, all day, every day, making 24-hour remote banking a reality, even over the Christmas holidays.
