Infrastructure bounced back sensationally in September with six major HS2 contracts awarded on the month worth a total of £7.2 billion. However, the same can’t be said for the remaining sectors in construction, including housing which saw new orders decrease for the first time in six months. 
Cautious optimism for small businesses in Q3 according to survey

Confidence levels among small businesses have bounced back to similar levels to those in Q1, following a dip as the General Election was held. However, despite the new wave of confidence, the proportion of businesses making investments to help their business grow has dropped. 
FSB in Scotland on new job figures

New statistics published today show that Scotland’s unemployment rate has risen to 4.1% in the three months to August. However this figure is lower than the equivalent UK figure of 4.3%. The share of Scots in employment also increased over the three month period.
